Production
and
Recording
As the “sound man” for Rusty Strings since 2005, I have produced numerous shows and concerts by the band under a variety of conditions. (To read about some of our exploits, check out the Live Sound section of my “tips” website, Cheap Advice On Music.) This experience, coming on top of a lifetime as a musician and audio hobbyist has given me the knowledge of electronics and music technology needed to help YOU set up and operate whatever kind of audio equipment you may be working with, including music production and PA systems of all kinds. I’ll be happy to set up and/or run the equipment for you, or to show you how to do it yourself so you don’t need me!

I also have considerable experience in recording, having written and recorded hundreds of my own songs going all the way back to 1969. (Check out my new album Stations to learn about my most recent work.) I have worked with reel-to-reel tape decks, cassette masters, and MiniDisc-based digital recording over the years, but nowadays my main recording tool is my MacBook laptop running Apple Logic Pro software. (Stations was recorded and mixed entirely on the MacBook.) I am also working with SONAR X1 on the PC.

I have set up a recording company called Columbus On-Location Recording to make recordings for schools, bands, and individual musicians at the concert hall, club, or rehearsal space and to produce CDs and/or computer files of the results. I use a Korg D16XD to make the recording, then transfer the tracks to the MacBook for post-production. Please check out the COR website for more info. Perhaps I can make a recording for YOU!
